Seeding a database or writing test fixtures needs a batch of identifiers in the right format, and sometimes you need to know when an existing ID was created. Five ID types

Paste a UUID v1, UUID v7 or ULID to see when it was created, shown in local time and as an ISO 8601 string.
Honest about randomness
Pasting a UUID v4 or NanoID reports that it has no embedded timestamp, since those IDs are fully random.
Which UUID version should I use?
UUID v4 is fully random. UUID v7 embeds a millisecond timestamp so values sort by creation time, which keeps database indexes friendlier. UUID v1 combines a timestamp with a node value.
Can I get the creation time from a UUID?
Yes for UUID v1, UUID v7 and ULID. Paste the ID into the decode field. UUID v4 and NanoID contain no timestamp.
